The Lydiard Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to continue to
bring the training system developed by the late great athletic coach Arthur
Lydiard to all potential athletes worldwide, whether they are a recreational
jogger, a weekend warrior or an aspiring world-beater.

The genius of the Lydiard system is that it is an aerobic based, response
regulated, sequential development system that is adaptable to individual needs
and abilities, disciplines and purposes. The basics will serve any beginning
athlete in establishing a health and fitness routine in their recreational arena
of choice that is lasting, enjoyable, and safe. Serious athletes will find the
Lydiard system offers a progressive development of their energy systems that
will prepare them for maximal performance on the day that counts.
The Lydiard Foundation is a partnership of two Lydiard aficionados, Lorraine
Moller and Nobby Hashizume, who have recognized the importance of continuing to
expand the great legacy that the charismatic New Zealander left the world. As
the “torch bearers” of the Lydiard legacy, it is our goal to provide an
organization that brings Lydiard training into the 21st century presenting the
Lydiard principles along with the latest knowledge and innovations in the sport
and fitness world.
It is not our intention to expound a cookie-cutter formula but to promote a
system that can be dynamically applied to meet the needs of individual athletes
and teams the world over and to do this we have welcomed and embraced the input
of many coaches, athletes and historians and will continue to do so to expand
the knowledge base of the our organization and bring to the everyday person as
well as the Olympic Champion the very best in fitness and performance education.
