The Hero's Journey is an archetypal pathway outlined by mythology scholar Joseph Campbell in his seminal work - The Hero of a Thousand Faces. In this session Lorraine adapts Campbell's work to describe the territory of this inner journey of the athlete. Learn how you can guide your athletes as they reinvent themselves through the Lydiard training pyramid to the final test - the goal race.

Born to Run Beautifully
Evolution has made us for movement, giving us an innate capacity for both endurance and speed, and yet many runners run stiffly and restricted. Looking at biomechanics, form, structure, metabolism and how we maintain and enhance tensegrity, Dr. Mark Cucuzzella shows us how to tap the ‘beautiful runner’ within.
Conquering the Marathon
The Kiwi Olympic Bronze Medal trio of Barry Magee, Rod Dixon and Lorraine Moller bring gold medal guidance and an unparalleled wealth of marathon experience to this session on marathon training using the Lydiard system.
Ketosis, Diet and Endurance
Dr. Keith Livingstone joins Australian over-55 marathon record holder, Johnny Meagher, in this 2-hour session on the science and practice of optimizing ketosis through diet and exercise to maximize endurance performance. Guidelines for who will most benefit from this practice, how to safely negotiating the territory of implementing a carbohydrate restricted diet without losing energy or speed, and how to stay in one’s Goldilocks zone, will be given.
Building Resilience Three - Back from Burn-out with Gary Moller
Avoiding injury and illness means increasing your Goldilocks training zone so that you have bounce back after a workout (resilience). Gary looks at how to build resilience practices into your training, how to dig yourself out of the training hole quickly, and how to come back if you have dug yourself into hole so deep that you have had to take long periods of time away from training - even to the point where you may have given up your goals.
Building Resilience Two - Supplemental Nutrition with Gary Moller
Should I use supplements? If so, what? Unless you are reading your body accurately indiscriminate supplementation could be completely contrary to what your body is needing. Supplements as chemical isolates or even food types can be one person's medicine and another’s poison. Gary believes that key supplementary elements are essential for the modern athlete to maintain training resiliency. Find out how to recognize types of stress patterns in athlete types, whether you are a fast or slow metabolizer, and what guidelines to follow for identifying specific needs for your body.
